Vacant Property Grant
The Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant is a payment you can get if you are turning a vacant house or building into your permanent home or rental property. It is also available if you are converting an entire former commercial or public use building into residential units.
How to Qualify
Applicants must provide proof of ownership of the property or evidence of active negotiations to purchase it, together with confirmation that the property has been vacant for at least two years at the time of application and was constructed prior to 2008. Applications may only be submitted by named individual owners and are not available to registered companies.
Rates of Payment
A grant of up to €160,000 is available, subject to upper limits for different types of work and a reasonable cost assessment by the local authority. The grant is inclusive of VAT. Where a property is confirmed as derelict, an additional top-up grant of up to €20,000 may be provided, bringing the total available support to €370,000.
